Health Physicist – Colorado Springs, Colorado area

Colorado Associates in Medical Physics (CAMP) is currently seeking a health physicist who will work under the overall direction of our Chief of Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine Physics and will engage primarily in regulatory compliance and staff safety.  The Health Physicist will also act as an interface with state radioactive materials licensing on behalf of radioactive materials licenses that are managed and overseen by CAMP.  The candidate will support Radiation Safety Officers (RSOs) at multiple sites and may also be tasked to servce as an RSO at some sites.

The candidate will be expected to complete activities related to Radiation Safety including, but not limited to, establishing and maintain Radiation Safety Programs, participating in Radiation Safety Committees, oversight and review of ALARA programs, personnel dosimetry, and policies and procedures reviews.  The candidate will also be responsible for activities related to Radioactive Materials, Regulatory and Accreditation agencies and practices, and may complete some Level 1 Medical equipment testing.  Any gap in the previously mentioned experience can be bridged with an eagerness and ability to learn as part of our team. Occasional travel outside of the area will be required with travel expenses reimbursed.  CAMP supplies an array of physics equipment for its employees use.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a health physics program awarding a Master of Science degree, with clinical and classroom curriculum and other training or experience such that the total duration of physics study, training and/or experience is at least three (3) years; or completion of a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the physical sciences with residency training / work experience in totaling two (2) years or more.
  • Certification by the American Academy of Health Physics (CHP) or American Board of Medical Physics (MHP). Certification must be achieved within three (3) years of the hire date, or
  • In the examination process of the AAHP or ABMP and making satisfactory progress, with additional supervision as required for the examination process.
  • Experience as Radiation Safety Officer, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team 

Colorado Associates in Medical Physics is centered in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado at the base of Pikes Peak. Colorado boasts approximately 300 days of sunshine every year so you can take advantage of surrounding mountain recreation year-round. 

CAMP offers a salary based on training and experience with consideration of data from the HPS and CHP Salary Survey ($80,000 - $160,000). Diagnostic Medical Physicist

Colorado Associates in Medical Physics (CAMP) is currently seeking a clinically focused physicist who will perform clinical medical physics tasks in collaboration with a team of imaging, nuclear medicine, and health physicists under the overall direction of our Chief of Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine Physics. 

The candidate will be expected to cover all modalities of diagnostic and nuclear medicine physics including Mammography, MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Rad/Fluoro, and Ultrasound.  Experience with ACR procedures, shielding design, radiation safety, and patient dose calculations is preferred.  Any gap in the previously mentioned experience can be bridged with an eagerness and ability to learn as part of our team. Occasional travel outside of the area will be required with travel expenses reimbursed.  CAMP supplies an array of physics equipment for its employees use.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible for Part 2 of ABR Diagnostic Medical Physics exam
  • Two years clinical experience
  • Experience in Nuclear Medicine, preferred
  • Experience as Radiation Safety Officer, preferred

Entry-level Therapeutic Medical Physicist - Pueblo, Colorado

CAMP is seeking an entry-level physicist to regularly support 1-2 clients in southern Colorado with a larger local support system (board eligibility or certification required). These clients operate in full Varian environments and support very active special procedure programs to include both stereo and HDR.

Pueblo is located 112 miles south of Denver along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Due to it's southern Colorado location, it boasts a warmer climate than other large cities in Colorado and sees less snowfall, but still has easy mountain access for all types of outdoor recreation (skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, etc). Pueblo is situated on the Arkansas River boasting a beautiful downtown Riverwalk with numerous dining and shopping establishments. The Pueblo Reservoir is a popular summer spot for boating recreation and year-round mountain biking and Pueblo hosts the Colorado State Fair and Chile Festival annually.

Required Qualifications: 

  • ABR or equivalent certification or eligibility for certification 
  • Strong clinical experience
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Ability to function independently while working as part of a team
